"The Gift of the Mystical Fish" is my most recent oil painting on canvas. Mermaids have made their appearance in most cultures throughout the ages. For me they represent feminine mystery, beauty, the subconscious and deep intuition. Some legends believe that mermaids are always accompanied by mermen... in my painting there appears to be a form below the mermaid that could be her counterpart. The illuminated background is a fluid grid or net containing gifts and perhaps a portal.
